How to Use: |
To make the most of our saffron pistils, they can be used in two ways: a) Before use, the stigmas should be soaked in warm water or another liquid (milk, broth depending on the recipe) for an hour, better two, so that both the color and the aroma will be released. Both the liquid and the stigmas can be used to make the recipe. b) Place the pistils to be used on a piece of baking paper and crush with something heavy until they become a powder. Pour the powder into the dish during the last minutes of cooking. This procedure intensifies the aroma. The golden-yellow color, characteristic of saffron-based dishes, is due to the crocin (a water-soluble substance) present in saffron which causes the stigmas or powder to release their characteristic color and aroma when immersed in liquid substances. |
